What is ADM (Add/Drop Multiplexer)?

ADM (Add/Drop Multiplexer)
Device installed at a point in a transmission line that enables new signals to enter the device and existing signals to exit. Signals born at the designated point can be added into the line and directed elsewhere (add) or split from the line (drop). Requires node to use Optical-Electrical-Optical conversion.
