What is OADM (Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer)?

OADM (Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer)
Add/Drop Multiplexer that uses optical-path processing instead of traditional electrical processing, requiring no Optical-Electrical-Optical conversion at the Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing network node. Decreased burden on the node improves cost performance of networking functions.
